New York  has a gravitational pull for our family. My husband and I moved there in our 20s, bright eyed and ready to experience all it could throw at us. Our home was a brownstone on the upper west side between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues. (The photo of the washing hanging between the brownstones was exactly how it looked from our back terrace-minus the washing). Now our three children are experiencing NYC for themselves and to celebrate the return yesterday of our youngest from her first solo trip to visit dear friends, I thought I'd share these wonderful archival photos.
